Why MOQ exists
Factories set up tooling, materials, and labor per production run. Making one wheel costs them nearly as much setup as making fifty, so they set a minimum order quantity to make the run worth it. It's economics, not rudeness.
How to get a single unit anyway
- Ask for a sample order. Many suppliers sell samples at a higher per-unit price. Say the word "sample" — it's the industry's understood path to a one-off.
- Offer to pay more per unit. "I'll pay 30% over your MOQ price for one unit" works more often than begging for the bulk price.
- Bundle items. Need wheels and lug nuts? Ordering both from one supplier can push you over their effective minimum.
- Ask about stock. If the part is already in their warehouse from a previous run, MOQ often disappears entirely.
What not to do
Don't promise a "big order later" you can't back up — sellers hear it daily and price you accordingly. And don't let a low MOQ blind you to a bad supplier; one unit from a scammer is still a loss.
